How to incorporate your brand colours into your Brand Shoot

So, you have created your logo, you’ve created a colour palette or worked with a brand designer to build one, and your brand is done. Right?

I don’t think so! There is so much value in your brand’s colour palette.

One, it translates to what colours you highlight in your Instagram in order to create a cohesive feed. And, most importantly (in my opinion), your brand’s colour palette is V I T A L for a productive and successful personal branding shoot. How? Below are 5 ways to include your brand colour palette in your shoot from big too small.

WHAT ARE MY TOP 5 TIPS FOR THE PERFECT BRAND SHOOT USING COLOURS?

  1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT LOCATION

A personal branding shoot can occur in locations of all shapes, sizes, and themes. However, it is important for me as a photographer to match the location to the overall aesthetic (even colours) to my client’s brand. A photo shoot in moody apartment with warm coloured furniture and decor would not align well with a client whose brand is bright, minimalist and airy. Keep your eye out for local AirBnBs, hotels, coffee shops, co-working spaces, or even a great wall in your brand colour

2. CHOOSE THE RIGHT OUTFIT

Need an excuse to do some shopping? A super easy way to incorporate your brand colours is in what you wear to your photo shoot. The main purpose of these photos is to use them on your website and other marketing materials, so it’s a GREAT idea to keep your brand colours in mind when choosing your wardrobe.
Good news is you still have creative freedom with how you incorporate your brand colours.
You can either wear your colours boldly. For example, rock an outfit in one colour from head to toe.

Or, you can incorporate them more subtly in your wardrobe.

Perhaps a fun pair of earrings, an on-brand colour jacket or scarf, or simply a pair of shoes in your brand colours paired with a neutral outfit. It’s up to you!

If the location for your brand shoot is more neutral, one way to add some of your brand colours into the scene is through home decor items. From picture frames, vases, coffee mugs, glassware, blankets, florals to books and candles, the possibilities are endless!

4.  DESK TOP ACCESSORIES & PAPER GOODS

Similar to above, keep your eye out, good places for this are The Range, Ikea, paper chase for desk accessories and paper goods in your brand colour palette. Look for desk accessories like staplers, clipboards, pens/pencils, highlighters, paperclips, or a pen cup. Paper goods to look for can include folders, notebooks, planners, or stationery.

5.  HAND HELD ITEMS & PROPS

Lastly, an easy way to pop in your brand colours is in the things you might hold in your hand during your photo shoot. These can include a cup or mug, a snack or drink, your purse or bag, a magazine/book, or (my favourite) your phone cover.
